This year Delta Pi Chapter’s education component of Y.E. S. consists of:
Scholarship
The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. awards scholarships on a local, regional and national level. Delta Pi chapter provides scholarships on the local level where they host an annual Citation Breakfast to raise funds to provide scholarships to high school seniors (Delta Pi Kudos and Xinos) attending colleges/universities.
On a regional level Delta Pi chapter supports the Gladys Merritt- Ross Scholarship that awards scholarships to current Kudos and Xinos who will attend a college/university.
Delta Pi chapter provides funds to support our National Perpetual Scholarship annually to any high school senior who will major in education at a four-year college/university.
Teach-A-Rama
A conference designed to acquaint teachers, parents, and the community-at-large with various aspects of the field of education.
Early Childhood Education
focuses on the provision of meaningful learning experiences for preschool children that will improve their readiness for school and subsequent scholastic achievement.
Literacy—includes academic skills centers that supplement classroom work by providing opportunities to enhance proficiency in such areas as reading, math, language arts, science, social studies, technology, and African American history.
African American History
develop, foster, and expand the knowledge of the contributions of African Americans to American and world culture.
The Commission on Civil Rights, Education, and Legislative Affairs
focuses on concerns involving the civil rights of children, youth, educators, and adults. It is responsible for keeping abreast of and informing the community about local, state, and nation legislation that affects education.
